Bangkirai
The most cost-effective alternative among tropical woods
Bangkirai is a heavy hardwood with a high bulk density and is one of the various members of the Shorea tree family. This weather-resistant tropical wood comes from Southeast Asia, mainly Malaysia and Indonesia, but also from northern India. Bangkirai has a uniform brownish colour (colour variations are possible), a relatively good durability and it belongs to resistance Class II.
Scattered pinholes (worm holes) and discolorations can occur, which are typical for this type of wood, but have no influence on the quality of the wood. In the first few years, rain can cause the dark substances to "wash out".
