Western red cedar

Permanent terrace planking with a soft surface

Western red cedar comes from the dense forests of Canada’s west coast, a mild and wet climate. The wood is largely knot-free and it grows evenly, which ensures very good stability. The natural colour of the western red cedar varies from light, honey-colour tones to dark reddish brown. Similarly, the grain can be even, but it can also vary.

Western red cedar is especially resistant to fungi and insects and is one of the most durable among the coniferous woods. For this reason, and because it is easy to work, it is well suited for use outdoors where durability and weather-resistance is required.
